During the Christmas season (2008), De Bijenkorf opened its display windows and in-store decoration design to Marcel Wanders studio. This very special Dutch retail department store is known as a place where visitors can find the most unique artisan gifts, along with a wonderful assortment of choice souvenirs, collectibles, figurines, stylish apparel, seasonal gifts and that one-of-a-kind outfit. Portraying the traditional Christmas story, three central figureheads dominated the main display windows and in-store decoration displays. The Black Queen, Golden Queen and White Queen who as the story goes brought gifts and so symbolized a free interpretation of the Three Kings who traveled to visit the baby Christ in the little town of Bethlehem.
