The Murano Bag Collection (2001) for Mandarina Duck utilises a completely new technology inspired by the glass blowers of Murano. Created with a sandwich of PE foam and textile, the collection includes a shoulder bag, wallet, wrist bag, a traveller’s bag and a handbag. A foam with two layers of cloth inside and outside is cut and knitted. The flat bags are then placed into an oven so the foam will become soft. A compressor blows the bag through the valve allowing the bag to cool down, yet retain its personalised roundish shape. As the material conforms to the maker's breathing, the individuality of each bag conforms to the style of its owner.
